The route starts from the district of Agüera, the central core of Turtzioz, in the direction of the Parque Natural de Armañón (natural park), an area of terrestrial and karst landscapes. Thanks to these stone massifs, Armañón benefits from a microclimate that has allowed oaks and Mediterranean beech trees to grow a few kilometers from the Cantabrian coast. During the route, which is of average difficulty, we border the Remendón oak forest, a forest of huge and centuries-old specimens, the largest in Biscay.
From here, we can admire the summit of Armañón, with its rounded summit inhabited by horses, potatoes, sheep and cows that graze. Turtzioz shares ownership of the Armañón Natural Park with the Karrantza Valley. From this point, a descent of about 12 km begins to the Bi-630 highway, where extreme caution must be taken to cross sections of road with forest tracks to Artzentales. From there, the route continues to climb to the peaks of El Somo, Mount Alen, Artatxo and the summit of Betaio to begin a rapid descent and reach Turtzioz again.
