Circular route running through the Mining Zone and the Cantabrian coast. Starting in Abanto-Zierbena, a municipality with lunar landscapes forged by the exploitation of the subsoil. The route passes next to the Mining Museum of the Basque Country, in the Gallarta neighborhood, which houses one of the largest collection of mining tools in the world.
From Abanto-Zierbena we'll cycle to Muskiz, another municipality closely linked to mining activity that was once home to the largest ore loading dock in the Basque Country. The route then crosses Castro Urdiales (Cantabria) and returns to Enkarterri via the top of Las Muñecas (Sodoor).
The return journey to Gallarta will take us back to Muskiz, to the road parallel to the Barbadun river basin, which forms a monumental complex full of vestiges of old mills, ironworks and bridges. Here is the El Pobal ironworks, a forge from 1504 that is still in operation as a museum.
