This route starts in Güeñes, a city with an important historical past, the cradle of noble families. Numerous buildings of historical and cultural interest are faithfully witnessed. The Santa María Church, with its excellent Gothic facade, shares center stage with Villa Urrutia, the current city hall, in whose gardens Arenatzarte was created, a space dedicated to avant-garde art where exhibitions blend in perfect symbiosis with its botanical park.
The waters of the Kadagua River guide us on a journey full of surprises, charming corners and nature in abundance. You can largely cover it by following the bidegorri (bike path) parallel to the river, although there are small sections that you will have to leave to take the main road. The route, which starts in Gueñes, crosses the municipality of Zalla to the city of Balmaseda, the first city founded in Biscay. From there, the trail suitable for MTB climbs eight kilometers near Arbaliza and Celadilla. Faced with an impressive landscape, the descent between forests and meadows begins to the Rigadas parking area, next to the summit of the same name. At this point, you'll head down the southern slope to the town of Gordexola, where you can stop along the way for a well-deserved rest. The Gordexola Valley is crossed by the Herrerias Albalzibar River, a river that is currently very large and has given rise to numerous forges in the past.
From there, with few slopes, you return to Gúeñes, the starting point of the route.
