⚠️ NOTICE: It is recommended to bring spare shoes and a flashlight or headlamp to challenge this route.
The route runs through the surroundings of Parque Natural de Armañón, between the municipalities of Turtzioz and Karrantza, although this time we will stop at the first one.
We divided the course into two levels: the green level, which is more accessible, without technical areas and with less slope, and the red level, which has several technical sections. The two share the vast majority of the course, with small segments in which they are temporarily separated.
From the Cueto Arena, we join the road that goes up in the direction of Armañón-Los Jorrios, progressing gradually on the asphalt following the “Armañón” signs, until we pass a caddle grid next to the first fountain.
We will continue climbing on an asphalt road until we reach a small white stone warehouse, where we will access a small path next to a stone wall that will leave us in the first cabin, avoiding the paved surface.
Once we pass the cabin, we will access a trail following the signs (white-red-yellow) until we reach a reservoir where we will join the concrete track and after crossing a second cabin.
We will continue climbing, with the front view of Armañón and Los Jorrios on the right, until we reach a second fountain and, later, leave the marked track and access a path with a canal (after passing a fence marked with an X, red-white).
For almost 1.5 km, the path will take us to a very special point on the route: access to the tunnel through which we will cross Los Jorrios for just over 1 km (it is advisable to provide front lighting, a spotlight, a flashlight or similar), until we reach the Remendón forest.
After leaving the tunnel, in the middle of the forest, we will continue along a trail surrounded by forests, until the first fork in the circuits: the green circuit will leave the section through the forest to the Armañón access base, while the red path will continue to overcome a ruined cabin and a narrow rocky passage, then leave it to the summit of Galupa, where we will find several dolmens.
While the red circuit will cross La Galupa in the direction of Armañón, the green circuit will leave the forest to the intersection where the two will meet, as a prelude to the ascent to the summit of Armañón.
Later, on a craddle grid, the red circuit will start the ascent parallel to the fence to the summit of Armañón, while the green circuit will cross it on a track that will take us to the Armañón refuge.
Both circuits, starting from these reference points and with Los Jorrios etched on our minds, will head to their crossroads, where they will resume the track to the finish line.
