Vía Verde de La Orkonera

The route follows the trace of the former Franco-Belgian mining railway, which linked Retuerto (Barakaldo) to the mines of La Arboleda. The Greenway starts from the upper part of the district of Ugarte (Trapagaran) and runs along the slopes of the Montes de Triano between the Atlantic vegetation and magnificent views of the Somorrostro Valley. The route goes through up to seven tunnels that were crossed by the old trains. The Greenway segment ends in the La Orkonera region, in Ortuella.
